ESP SelectBaseball is offering a unique opportunity to join one of the top competitive baseball programs in the area at both the 14u/15u levels. ESP Select Baseball offers a unique blend of coaching, player development /individual training at ESP, top level competition mixed with good old fashion fun. At the 14u level, expectations are to play 60-70 games including participation in the I-80 League (www.i80baseball.com) and 10-13 tournaments. Some tournaments will be out of state. Local mid-week development games will be scheduled as well. At the 15u level, we will offer a “short season” opportunity from mid-May to mid-July after the high school season ends. The plans are still being formulated, but 6-7 tournaments plus development games will be scheduled.
ESP Select Baseball is pleased to announce the following 2013 Teams and Coaches:
- ESP Select Black 14u - coached by Tadd Gibson (owner and founder of ESP Select Baseball)
- Tadd will continue to model this team after his coaching success of the 2012 13u Black Team
- Tadd will coordinate and oversee the training of all teams in a similar fashion to 2012
- ESP Select Red 14u - coached by Dave Walsh (former founder of Grasshoppers Baseball)
- Dave has led the Grasshopper to 85 wins over the past 2 years with 36-19 and 49-9 records respectively
- Dave has turned over the Grasshopper organization (will act as a liaison) to another family to focus on 14u and older teams at ESP
- Dave is very well respected in the community and baseball circles across the State of Illinois
- Dave's teams have excelled locally and traveled throughout the country playing in a variety of tournaments
- Dave is very excited about the training opportunities and the quality of players attracted to ESP
- Dave will bring a few talented players with him from last year's team
- Dave will bring 1 assistant coach with him and will be looking for a couple more
- ESP Select White 14u (Tentative) - Due to the interest level there is potential for a 3rd team
- ESP Select Black 15u - coached by Bill Callaghan
- Bill will model this team after his coaching success of the 2012 13u Red Team
- Bill's team will provide an option for HS Freshmen who played at the 13u level in 2012 to jump to their grade level at 15u in 2013
- Bill's team will participate in offseason training through Sunday, February 24th
- Bill's team will resume activities once the 2013 HS season is complete
- Bill's team will offer flexibility and coordination around the summer HS season
- Bill's team will have a shortened season (3rd week of May - 3rd week of July) playing approximately 6-7 tournaments
Tryout Dates will be:
- Sunday, August 5th, (Callaghan 15u only) 10-12pm tentatively at Oswego East HS
- Saturday, August 11th (All teams) 10-12pm tentatively at Oswego East HS
- Sunday, August 12th (All teams callbacks/makeup if necessary) 12-2pm tentatively at Oswego East HS
There will be no immediate pressure to make a decision and secure a spot on the team with a deposit. The overall 2013 cost is being finalized. I encourage attending other organizational tryouts to ensure the best fit for your son.
